IWC Ingenieur Watch

In 2023, IWC unveiled the new generation of Ingenieur watches at Watches & Wonders Geneva, designed by Gérald Genta. This model is a reissue of the classic Ref. 1832 from the 1970s, designed by Genta.

The 40mm case combines vertical brushing, circular brushing, and mirror polishing techniques, with carefully reconstructed lines presenting a softer, more fluid profile. The thickness is 10.7mm.

The bezel is securely fastened with 5 screws, and the lugs and H-shaped bracelet have been redesigned for better ergonomics, providing a more comfortable fit on the wrist.

What stands out most about this new release is the dial, which reintroduces the “grid” pattern used in the original Ingenieur SL. To create this pattern, the iron dial base is stamped to form the recessed texture, then treated with a galvanic coating. The pattern is made up of fine lines running perpendicularly and is stamped onto the soft iron base before undergoing an electroplating process. The pattern covers the entire inner area of the dial, while the outer section around the minute markers remains smooth. The placement and proportions of the IWC logo have been carefully adjusted to align perfectly with the grid pattern. The hour markers are coated with luminous material to ensure visibility at night.

The dial features a classic three-hand layout, with hour markers and the second hand reflecting the 1970s design. The date window is at 3 o’clock, and the “INGENIEUR” logo is positioned at 6 o’clock.

The new stainless steel bracelet is molded from the original design, with all structures synchronized with the original. Its materials, craftsmanship, and wearability are 100% identical to the original.

Powered by the Swiss-made SW300 movement, offering excellent performance, precision, and reliability with no repair issues. The V7 version also offers a more affordable 2892 stable version, which matches the Swiss version in terms of appearance and details.
